CASE STUDY · MULTI-SITE WHM CLOUD MIGRATION

Commersphere Multi-Site WHM Migration to CloudStack

AccuWeb.Cloud migrated Commersphere’s complete WHM/cPanel environment from Jelastic to CloudStack, including multiple hosted websites, DNS zones, mail services, MySQL databases, and custom Apache/NGINX configurations.

Because Commersphere powers live virtual events, our cloud migration team carefully scheduled the cutover around its event calendar, rebuilt site-specific configurations, and verified attendee sessions, admin dashboards, and real-time platform features before completing the migration.

Migrating a Live Event Platform Without Service Disruption

Commersphere’s virtual event platform was running on a multi-site AlmaLinux and WHM/cPanel environment, with multiple hosted websites, DNS zones, mail services, and site-specific web configurations all managed from the same server.

The challenge was not only moving the hosting environment, but doing it without affecting live attendee sessions, admin dashboards, real-time event features, mail delivery, or DNS resolution.

Because scheduled events could not be interrupted, the migration required careful timing, per-site configuration validation, and full platform testing before cutover. Each hosted site also had its own DNS, mail, Apache/NGINX vhost, rewrite, and SSL requirements that had to be preserved on the new CloudStack infrastructure.

A pattern we keep finding

A Configuration Risk Our Migration Team Checks For

WHM’s default vhost regeneration can create a generic configuration that may not preserve site-specific rewrite rules, custom SSL bindings, or other web-server settings built up over time.

We have seen similar configuration dependencies during migrations for clients such as Akila News and Bharat Property, where environment-specific settings had to be identified and validated before cutover. For Commersphere, that meant rebuilding and checking each hosted site’s Apache/NGINX vhost individually rather than relying on a generic WHM-generated configuration.

This helped preserve custom routing, redirects, SSL behavior, and other site-specific settings when the environment moved to CloudStack.

Technical Walkthrough

How We Migrated Commersphere’s Multi-Site WHM Environment

Migrating a live multi-site WHM/cPanel environment requires validating far more than website availability. Our cloud migration team had to preserve account structure, DNS, mail, databases, SSL, web-server configuration, and event-critical application features before the new environment could safely go live.

01

Migrated the Complete WHM/cPanel Environment

The full hosting environment was migrated from Jelastic to a dedicated AlmaLinux instance on CloudStack, including WHM/cPanel account structure, hosted websites, DNS zones, mail services, and site-specific configurations.

Rather than treating each website as an isolated migration, the entire account was moved as one connected hosting environment so that web, mail, and DNS services continued to work together after cutover.

02

Rebuilt Apache/NGINX Vhosts for Each Hosted Site

Each website’s Apache/NGINX virtual host configuration was rebuilt individually instead of relying on WHM’s generic regeneration.

This allowed our engineers to preserve custom rewrite rules, SSL bindings, routing behavior, and site-specific web-server settings that could otherwise be lost during migration.

03

Verified Live Event Features After Cutover

Commersphere’s platform was tested beyond basic page availability. Our team individually verified live attendee sessions, admin dashboards, and real-time interaction features after cutover.

This ensured that the event platform was fully functional, not simply that the websites were loading correctly.

04

Migrated and Validated Each MySQL Database Before DNS Cutover

Each site’s MySQL database was migrated separately and checked for integrity before DNS was pointed to the new environment.

This allowed any restore or data issue to be identified while the original environment was still live, protecting important event, attendee, and application data before traffic moved to CloudStack.

05

Scheduled the Migration Around Commersphere’s Live Event Calendar

The final cutover was scheduled specifically to avoid dates with live or upcoming events on the platform.

By treating the event calendar as a critical migration constraint, our team reduced the risk of disrupting attendees, administrators, or active event sessions during the transition.

The Result

Multi-Site WHM Migration Completed Without Event Disruption

Commersphere’s complete multi-site WHM/cPanel environment was successfully migrated from Jelastic to CloudStack without disrupting any scheduled event.

Across the account, mail and DNS services remained available, each hosted site retained its required configuration, and event-critical functionality—including attendee sessions, admin dashboards, and real-time interaction features—was verified after cutover.

The migration was also scheduled around Commersphere’s live event calendar so the final transition could be completed without affecting active users.

“Our biggest concern was making sure the migration did not interfere with any live or scheduled events. AccuWeb.Cloud planned the transition carefully around our event calendar, handled each hosted site individually, and preserved the configurations we depended on. The migration was completed smoothly, with our sites, mail, DNS, and event platform continuing to operate without disruption.”
