Session Replication with Memcached<\/h2>\n

The platform can replicate sessions between web server instances using multicast. Alternatively, you can use Memcached for session replication.<\/p>\n

To use Memcached for session replication, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Create Environment<\/h2>\n

Step 1.<\/strong>\u00a0Log into your AccuWeb.cloud account.<\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/strong>\u00a0Click the Create Environment<\/strong> button at the top left.<\/p>\n

\"New<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 3.<\/strong>\u00a0Select two or more servers (e.g., two Tomcat instances) and a Memcached<\/strong> node in the Environment Topology window. Name your environment (e.g., sessionreplication). After then, click on the Create<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Step 4.<\/strong>\u00a0Wait a minute for your environment to be created.<\/p>\n

Configure Application Server<\/h2>\n

Step 1.<\/strong>\u00a0Download the following .jar files:<\/p>\n

memcached-session-manager-1.6.2.jar<\/a>
\nmemcached-session-manager-tc7-1.6.2.jar<\/a>
\nspymemcached-2.8.4.jar<\/a>
\nmsm-kryo-serializer-1.6.1.jar<\/a>
\nkryo-1.03.jar<\/a>
\nreflectasm-0.9.jar<\/a>
\nkryo-serializers.jar<\/a>
\njoda-time.jar<\/a>
\nminlog-1.2.jar<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/strong>\u00a0Go to the application Server and Click the Config icon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 3.<\/strong>\u00a0In the new window, select the lib<\/strong> folder and upload the .jar<\/strong> files you downloaded.<\/p>\n

Step 4.<\/strong>\u00a0Go to the conf<\/strong> folder (opt\/tomcat\/conf) and open the context.xml<\/strong> file.<\/p>\n

Step 5.<\/strong>\u00a0Update context.xml to include the following Manager configuration for memcached-session-manager:<\/p>\n

You can choose a different serialization strategy if needed. Here, Kryo is used for its speed in binary serialization.<\/p>\n
Step 6.<\/strong>\u00a0In the memcachedNodes string, add your memcached host and the default port (11211). For example:<\/p>\n

To find your memcached host, add the ‘memcached-‘ prefix to your environment hostname (visible under the environment name).<\/p>\n
Step 7.<\/strong>\u00a0Save your changes by clicking the Save<\/strong> button. Choose “Save for all instances”<\/strong> to apply the changes to all instances in the Tomcat application server.<\/p>\n

Step 8.<\/strong>\u00a0Next, restart the Tomcat service. Click on “Restart Nodes”<\/strong> next to the Application Server.<\/p>\n
Step 9.<\/strong>\u00a0Select your preferred option in the Restart Tomcat nodes window and click Restart<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n

Step 10.<\/strong>\u00a0Once the application node servers restart successfully, you will receive a notification on the dashboard confirming that the containers in the environment have been restarted.<\/p>\n

That’s it! Now, you have a highly available cluster using Memcached.<\/p>\n
