It&#8217;s a good idea to keep your templates up to date with the latest releases.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"acl-ol\">\n<li>When you update, your custom data and important system files are kept safe.\n<ul class=\"ack-ul\">\n<li>Your files are stored in <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"https:\/\/accuweb.cloud\/resource\/articles\/container-layer-volumes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">volumes<\/a>, both default and custom ones.<\/li>\n<li>Files listed in \/etc\/jelastic\/redeploy.conf (these are special settings needed for the containers to work)<\/li>\n<li>Configurations related to AutoFS and NFS (\/etc\/autofs.jelastic, \/etc\/auto.master, \/etc\/exports)<\/li>\n<li>Firewall settings (\/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables-custom, \/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables4-jelastic, \/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables6-jelastic, \/etc\/iptables\/rules.v4)<\/li>\n<li>Access info for SSH (\/root\/.ssh\/authorized_keys, \/root\/.ssh\/authorized_keys2, \/root\/.ssh\/id_rsa)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Your custom <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"https:\/\/accuweb.cloud\/resource\/articles\/configuration-tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">settings<\/a>, like commands and links, won&#8217;t change.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"https:\/\/accuweb.cloud\/resource\/articles\/how-to-automatically-scale-nodes-horizontally-in-accuweb-cloud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multiple instances<\/a>, you can update them one by one without any downtime.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This means you can update your Docker container to a new version without affecting your application. Using the platform, you can redeploy containers with just a few clicks on the <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"#dashboard-ui\">dashboard<\/a> or automate it with the <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"#api\">API<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ack-formula\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you&#8217;re using MySQL, MariaDB, or Percona databases, you can&#8217;t go back to a lower version. The method will use nodeGroup if both are provided, but it will fail if neither is specified.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the following formats in your <a class=\"ack-link-color\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.cloudscripting.com\/creating-manifest\/actions\/#api\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">automation scripts<\/a> to define the update:<\/p>\n<p>1. To update a whole layer of containers:<\/p>\n<p><strong>api:<\/strong> environment.control.RedeployContainers<br \/>\n<strong>nodeGroup:<\/strong> {nodeGroup}<br \/>\n<strong>tag:<\/strong> {myImage}:{newTag}<\/p>\n<p>Here:<\/p>\n<p><strong>{nodeGroup}:<\/strong> The layer (or node group) where all containers should be updated.<br \/>\n<strong>{myImage}:<\/strong> The name of the image to use.<br \/>\n<strong>{newTag}:<\/strong> The version of the image.<\/p>\n<p>2. To update a specific container:<\/p>\n<p><strong>api:<\/strong> environment.control.RedeployContainers<br \/>\n<strong>nodeId:<\/strong> {nodeId}<br \/>\n<strong>tag:<\/strong> {myImage}:{newTag}<\/p>\n<p>Here, replace {nodeId} with the ID number of the container you want to update. This file holds important settings for your container. When you update your container, the platform makes sure these settings stay safe. When you replace a config file with a new version, the platform automatically saves a copy of the old file.<\/p>\n<p>To create a backup, just specify the file&#8217;s path in the redeploy.conf file and add &#8220;backup:&#8221; before it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>backup: {path_to_file}<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember: This only works for files, not folders.<\/p>\n<p>After updating your container, you&#8217;ll see both the new and old versions of the file. The old version will have either a &#8220;backup&#8221; or a timestamp added to its name. Each time you update to a new version, a new backup with a different timestamp is created.<\/li>\n<li><strong>{file_name}.backup:<\/strong> This is the most recent backup, replacing any previous backups with the same name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this feature, you can easily switch back to the previous settings by using the backup file.
